Ep 13: Football, Friendship and Fake It Til You Make It

from the cutting room floor:

My husband surprised me and took me to Virginia’s horse country for our anniversary. It was an amazing trip, We checked out the countryside and took in some races. That’s where I met Natalie and Summer. Natalie’s family owns one of the coolest breweries we’ve been to - Lost Barrel Brewery -in Middleburg, VA.  They showed us around the family farm and the inner workings of the brewery and after a couple hours of talking business, family and football, Natalie and Summer’s fun perspective on the then “budding romance” of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce convinced me, I wanted to have a conversation with them to hear their perspective as not-so-football football fans on these two superstars getting together. I decided to bring in one of my friends who covers the NFL daily – Bridget Condon of NFL Network, to shed perspective on what she was hearing at the time. Bridget and I met when I was giving the graduation talk at my Alma mater (JMU). She sought my guidance then and watching her meteoric rise in the industry makes me so proud of her. This was a fun conversation and what’s amazing is to look back then I don’t think any of us would think Taylor and Travis would still be the hot topic it is now. I love it!
