EP 12: Ladies Who Lunch: The Power of Female Friendship with Stephanie Szostak, Emily Liebert and Alisyn Camerota

from the cutting room floor:

This conversation was a kind of pinch me opportunity because it was a magazine cover shoot that brought us together on this one afternoon.  The routine lunches I’ve had with Emily, Stephanie and Alisyn have been going on for a few years but the fact they were asking us to be featured, if I‘m being honest, I felt a little “unworthy. When I say I value female friendships so much, it’s because I realize so clearly now how void I was of them when I was early on in my career as I was scrapping my way to compete in a man’s world. I loved my girlfriends but I did not necessarily prioritize those relationships as much as I could have because I was busy trying to be seen. Now that I’m a mom and that I have the experience and knowledge of how important the journey and the people are around you, this group of ladies is such a blessing. Like any woman with a close group of girlfriends, it’s sharing the relatable ups and downs of motherhood, career struggles and the moments to lift each other up and help one another shine that matters to me. This conversation started with picking out clothes like teenage girls in Alisyn’s bedroom. The sparkles and sequins were so much fun.  I feel grateful to have different groups of female friends from different points of my life that fill my cup in different ways. This crew is one I would define as sounding board central. I am in awe of all these women have accomplished but mostly, how they’re navigating life and living it as they want to.

Podcast show notes:

Take a seat with Lindsay and 3 friends as they share how female friendship and frequent “lunches” have helped them navigate life. After a photo shoot for Westport Magazine, Lindsay sits down with friends - author Emily Liebert, journalist Alisyn Camerota and actress Stephanie Szostak to dish about how collaboration and supporting one another through professional and personal challenges and triumphs has meant everything. Moderated by magazine editor-in-chief Samantha Yanks, the foursome discuss topics including mental health, the “toughest thing” they’ve overcome and the daily ritual they cannot live without.
